The Andrews Labor Government has awarded more than $1,360,000 to councils and organisations across Western Victoria to improve community safety and provide an economic boost to local workers affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney today announced the projects funded from the Community Safety Infrastructure Grants, which includes $55,000 to Timboon Demons Football Netball Club Inc to deliver lighting and improved security at the Timboon Recreation Reserve, a facility that is used by the local football, netball, cricket and tennis clubs, and the wider community.
This is one of the 31 projects sharing in more than $5.6 million in funding under the 2020-21 Community Safety Infrastructure Grants, as part of the government’s $2.7 billion Building Works package.
The Community Safety Infrastructure Grants program provides up to $500,000 for projects that upgrade public safety and security.
The Timboon project will generate economic impact in the local area, with local businesses undertaking the work.
Projects will commence as soon as it is safe to do so, and where possible will engage employees through the Working for Victoria program, which prioritises employment for Victorians impacted by the pandemic.
The grants are part of the Victorian Government’s Community Crime Prevention Program which helps prevent crime and keep Victorian communities safe.
