The Andrews Labor Government is backing Bannockburn and district netballers with the redevelopment of a new female friendly pavilion at the town’s Victoria Park.
Member for Geelong, Christine Couzens and Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney, today visited Bannockburn Football and Netball Club to formally announce a $1.1 million contribution towards the project which will support the current crop of junior and senior netballers at Bannockburn Tigers Football Netball Club and encourage continued growth in playing and social membership.
Netball is booming at the Tigers but the club has been struggling with an ageing facility – the Victorian Budget 2022/23 allocation will go towards delivering a new pavilion complete with female friendly player and umpire change rooms, accessible toilets within the facility, social spaces, first aid facilities and office.
The new pavilion will provide the perfect base for the Tigers to build on their membership, training, competitions and development programs.
The investment is part of a $88 million Victorian Budget 2022/23 community sport infrastructure investment, providing better facilities for clubs and communities across Victoria, levelling the playing field for women and girls, building community connectedness and creating jobs in planning, design and construction.
The latest allocation brings the Labor Government’s investment in community sport and active recreation infrastructure since 2014 to more than $1.2 billion.
Ms Tierney and Ms Couzens acknowledged the support of the Golden Plains Shire Council and Bannockburn Football Netball Club for the project.
