Local businesses Kaawirn Kuunawarn Hissing Swan Arts Pty Ltd, Tarerer Gunditj Project Association Inc and Eumeralla Backpackers in Yambuk feature in a new directory of Victoria’s Indigenous enterprises.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney today welcomed the promotion of Port Fairy Indigenous enterprises in the 2008/09 Victorian Indigenous Business Directory.
“Kaawirn Kuunawarn Hissing Swan Arts Pty Ltd, Tarerer Gunditj Project Association Inc and Eumeralla Backpackers are among the more than 130 businesses from across the state listed in the directory,” Ms Tierney said.
“Thanks to the Brumby Government, this excellent resource will promote the variety and expertise of Indigenous enterprises, products and services available in our own community to a wide audience.
“The directory celebrates and publicises the vitality and depth of our Indigenous businesses.”
Launching the directory during Reconciliation Week, Victorian Small Business Minister Joe Helper said economic development was a key part of advancing Indigenous communities.
“The expanded directory, now in its second year, is part of the Brumby Government’s Building the Economic Base initiative, a $1.8 million boost to support the growth of Indigenous small businesses,” Mr Helper said.
“Having nearly doubled in size from the original, the 2008/09 directory will help stimulate business opportunities, networking and promotional activities among Indigenous communities.
“Through the Koori Business Network, we are supporting the growth and development of economically independent Indigenous businesses.”
