South West Healthcare – Warrnambool will share in a $9.4 million Victorian Government boost for regional health services to fund state of the art medical equipment Gayle Tierney, Member for Western Victoria said today.
Ms Tierney said South West Healthcare – Warrnambool was one of 41 regional and rural health services that would share in the extra funding for vital health technology.
“The $118,025 funding boost for South West Healthcare – Warrnambool will allow the hospital to purchase an instrument washer.”
“Brumby Government funding is providing our hospitals with the most modern and up-to-date equipment now available, to help ensure that all Victorians have access to quality health services, regardless of where they live,” Ms Tierney said.
“This funding is vital to provide essential equipment for important medical procedures and patient care.”
“Victoria’s hospitals need to stay abreast of developments and technology to ensure they continue to provide the best possible care to patients.
“Targeted equipment funding enables hospitals to take advantage of advances in technology in terms of patient treatment and diagnosis. The Brumby Government is continuing with its significant investment in rebuilding and improving hospitals.”
“This funding will allow our hard working nurses, doctors and other medical professionals to have access to the best equipment, to continue providing quality care to patients in our community” Ms Tierney said.
Ms Tierney said that this boost followed a 91.6 per cent increase in funding for South West Healthcare since 1999.
Ms Tierney said the Brumby Government was committed to providing world-class health services close to home for all Victorians.
“We’re getting on with the business of delivering state-of-the-art healthcare that benefits all Victorians,” Ms Tierney said.
