The Andrews Labor Government is getting on with building the sports infrastructure Victorian communities deserve.
Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney today announced a new multi-purpose community pavilion will be constructed at D.C Farren Oval in Mortlake.
As part of the Victorian Budget 2017/18, the Victorian Government kicked in $50,000 to help Moyne Shire Council deliver the new multi-purpose community pavilion at the Mortlake Recreation Reserve.
Victorian sports clubs are the lifeblood of our towns, and they deserve modern, safe and inclusive facilities.
We’re seeing unprecedented numbers of women and girls signing up to local sports like cricket, Aussie rules, netball and soccer.
“Our investment of $50,000 in to Mortlake’s multi-purpose community pavilion project ensures clubs and user groups at the Mortlake Recreation Reserve can open their doors to more community members and say goodbye to outdated facilities”, Ms Tierney said.
Once complete the new community pavilion will include male and female umpire change rooms and accessible toilets to service a new function area and enable ease of access for all people.
It will also deliver the only local modern space for training, community meetings, large gatherings for sport, business forums or social activities.
Ms Tierney thanked project partners, Federal Government – National Stronger Regions Fund, Moyne Shire Council, Origin Energy and the local community.
The Victorian Budget 2017/18 invested $332.8 million to improve sports facilities – from grassroots to elite – to cement Victoria as the sporting capital of the world.
Since being elected, the Andrews Labor Government has continually invested in initiatives to make sure our suburban and regional clubs and our iconic sporting stadiums have the modern facilities they need to grow.
