On another matter, I must mention that hard work is well and truly under way by
Una McAlinden and the organising committee who, along with visitors and local
committee community members, will make this weekend the best ever National
Celtic Festival in Portarlington.
Last week I had the great pleasure of announcing a $22 500
contribution by the Brumby Labor government to the festival. More than 10 000
people are expected to attend the event, which offers a diverse program of
music, dance, literature and drama. This funding for the festival is part of the
10-year tourism and events industry strategy and demonstrates the Brumby
government’s commitment to tourism, which is worth more than $15 billion to the
Victorian economy. I encourage all to converge on Portarlington this weekend
because a great time will be had by all. It is also an opportunity to inject
