Students and staff at Bellaire Primary School now have access to brand-new teaching and learning spaces, with further upgrades and improvements on the way, thanks to the Allan Labor Government.
Labor Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney today visited Bellaire Primary School in Highton to officially open the school’s new learning centre and meet students, staff and members of the school community.
The state-of-the-art learning centre is designed for modern teaching and learning, with 8 new classrooms, plus spaces for team teaching, small-group work and flexible learning.
A new staffroom in the learning centre also provides teachers and other school staff with a dedicated space outside of the classroom.
The opening of the learning centre completes the first of 3 upgrade and modernisation projects at Bellaire Primary School, all funded by a $7.64 million investment in the 2020–21 State Budget.
Stage 2 works to refurbish Block B at the school are now under way and are expected to finish in mid-2025.
Future Stage 3 works will deliver a half basketball court and landscaping at the school, following partial demolition of Block A.
The upgrade and modernisation works are designed by Kelly Architects and delivered by BDH Constructions, both Geelong-based businesses.
The Labor Government is upholding Victoria as the Education State – with $16.9 billion invested over the past decade to build new schools and undertake more than 2,200 school upgrades.
This substantial investment has not only improved educational facilities across the state, it has also supported more than 26,000 jobs in construction and associated industries.
