Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney, on behalf of Minister for Health, Jill Hennessy, today officially opened the new Portland District Health Consulting Suites at
Portland District Health.
The modern consulting suite is a convenient ‘one-stop-shop’ for a range of community and allied health services such as speech therapy, diabetes education, psychology services, dieticians, drug and alcohol services and cancer support.
The Victorian Government provided $464,000 to transform the hospital’s old Seymour Cundy Wing into a new primary care precinct.
As part of the upgrade, the wing was completely refurbished and now comprises of 17 multi-disciplinary consulting suites, five new treatment rooms, two procedural rooms and an improved entry and reception area.
The easy-to-access health hub is a major boost for local community and allied health services and provides patients with more comfort, safety and privacy.
Its location next to Active Health Portland helps consolidate and integrate primary care services offered by Portland District Health, meaning a more efficient workplace for staff and better outcomes for patients.
The Andrews Labor Government is giving Portland District Health the increased funding it needs to meet growing demand for care in Western Victoria.
In last year’s budget, the Government provided Portland District Health with $25.4 million, which is $1.18 million more than the previous year under the former Liberal Government.
