The Allan Government is ensuring older Victorians in the south-west get the high-quality care they need and deserve – with construction of the new $39.6 million aged care facility in Camperdown at the halfway mark.
Minister for Ageing Ingrid Stitt today announced ground works and the building frame on the facility are complete, with work on the roof and façade installation now underway.
Creating a safe and comfortable place for residents to call home, the new 36-bed facility will feature dementia-friendly design – providing a more modern, efficient and safer working environment for staff.
Residents will be accommodated in single bedrooms with a private ensuite, utilising the concept of ‘small households’ with dedicated kitchen, dining, lounge and break-out sitting areas.
This design will create a setting that promotes dignity, people-centred care and independence so residents can ‘age in place’, especially important in regional locations such as Camperdown, allowing residents to stay close to support networks and maintain community connections as their care needs increase.
Residents will also receive open area views, terraces, gardens, and abundant natural light, fostering community connections and enhance residents’ physical and emotional wellbeing to encourage social interaction, while offering a modern, efficient workplace for staff.Top of Form

Delivered by the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) in partnership with South West Healthcare and AW Nicholson, the project is on track to be completed by 2025.
The project is being delivered under the Rural and Regional Public Sector Residential Aged Care Services Revitalisation Strategy to modernise ageing facilities which are home to some of our most vulnerable older Victorians.
