Colac residents have been urged to keep an eye out for a new guide to local public transport services arriving in their letterboxes in the coming days.
Upper House Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney MP said the new ‘Your guide to local public transport’ booklet will provide people in Colac with vital information about all of their public transport options.
The booklet has been developed by Viclink, a partnership of Victoria’s regional train, coach and bus operators and provides customers with a one-stop-shop for information about services, fares and ticketing.
“Viclink is the new one-stop shop for public transport customer information in regional Victoria,” Ms Tierney said.
“Viclink also have a dedicated website and call centre to provide people living in regional Victoria with all the information they need about fares, services, timetables and customer feedback.
Ms Tierney said the new guide would allow people in Colac to learn more about public transport services available and make better transport choices.
“This booklet provides all the information Colac residents need to be able to make the most of the public transport network.”
“Often people are unaware of local transport options or are unsure of how they can get more information about local services.
“This guide is a great resource and includes information on coach, bus and taxi services.
“It can be easily kept in the car, on the fridge or in a wallet or handbag as a handy reference.
“We know that people not feeling confident in their knowledge of services, fares, timetables and routes is a barrier to them using public transport.
“Public transport is a great way to travel. Buses and coaches, along with taxis and other community transport services are a major asset to the Colac community, providing comfortable and affordable travel options,” Ms Tierney said.
Viclink booklets will be progressively delivered to every household in regional Victoria over the next two years.
