My adjournment matter is for the Minister for Public Transport and is in
relation to the Colac-Lorne bus service. This service was trialled for nine
weeks last year, and it was met with great success; over 4600 people used it.
Over 500 people used the service on a weekly basis in December, and it peaked
with over 700 people using it in January. It is an important service as it links
the coast to the hinterland. It provides employment opportunities in the region,
and it is also important for young people who do not have a
car or a drivers licence.
I ask that the minister supports the resurrection of the bus
service as soon as possible because it has significant benefits for the
communities of Colac and Lorne, but also for Birregurra and Deans Marsh,
townships that have bus stops between Colac and Lorne.
