The Allan Labor Government is preserving the history of Victoria through providing funding for organisations at the heart of our communities to research, record and showcase local history.
Labor Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney today congratulated successful organisations in Western Victoria in the latest round of the Labor Government’s Local History Grants Program. In total, 42 organisations will share in $350,000 of funding.
The Anglesea RSL Sub-Branch Inc. is set to receive $5,650 for their Anglesea & District War Memorial Website project, while the Birregurra District Historical Centre has been awarded $6,299 for the digitization of its “Historic Homes of Birregurra” book.
The Camperdown P&A Society will receive $2,012 for their project “From Boulders and Bracken: 50 Years of the Camperdown Showground.” Meanwhile, the Otway Districts Historical Society Inc. has been granted $2,291 for their Beech Forest Walking Tour Audio & QR Project.
Additionally, the Torquay Museum Without Walls has been awarded $4,429 for their Memory Lab project.
These projects encompass a variety of historical preservation efforts, including newspaper and photograph digitization, memorial websites, digital histories, oral histories, and archiving projects.
The Labor Government is supporting the next round of the Local History Grants Program and Victorian Community History Awards, with applications to open later this year.
