Gayle Tierney MP was in Portland this morning to inform Clarkston Ray, spokesperson for the West Portland Sewerage Scheme Action Group that the Brumby Labor Government has committed more than $767,000 to Wannon Water for the West Portland Sewerage Scheme.
The funding will reduce the contribution of each landowner to the sewerage scheme by $5,770 per lot.
“This is a great result for the residents of West Portland, particularly those on fixed incomes.
“I am pleased that there has been a further examination of the case and I am sure the West Portland community will be delighted with this outcome.” Ms Tierney said.
A meeting was convened with the office of the Minister for Water, Gayle Tierney MP and Clarkston Ray in July.
“The meeting that Clarkston Ray and I had with the Minister’s office last month was constructive and canvassed a number of issues.
“Clarkston Ray ably represented the West Portland Sewerage Scheme Action Group throughout the process and it was a pleasure working with him to bring about this fantastic result.
