The Andrews Labor Government is delivering upgrades and maintenance to our public cemeteries, ensuring these important spaces where Victorians reflect and remember those no longer with us continue to be preserved.
The Labor government in investing more than $600,000 in grants through the 2022-23 Cemetery Grants Program.
Three cemeteries in Western Victoria will share in almost $23,000 in funding.
Announcing the grants, the Labor Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney said the funds would be used to improve facilities at the three cemeteries.
The funding includes:
- $11,880 for Moonlight Head Cemetery Trust
- $4,000 for Bellbrae Cemetery Trust
- $6,985 for Camperdown Cemetery Trust
The three grants are among 50 cemetery trusts across the state sharing in this round of grants. The grants make an important contribution to the cost of cemetery infrastructure, amenities, maintenance, equipment and training.
The grants program provides financial support to help cemeteries – many of which are volunteer-run – continue to function as peaceful and welcoming places of remembrance for the whole community.
The latest funding round will help secure the long-term future of these sites and provide them with the modern facilities expected by the community.
Grant rounds are awarded twice a year, with applications for the current round closing on 31 March.
