The Anglesea Kangaroos Netball Club are net set go for season 2024 thanks to the completion of a brand new female friendly pavilion at their home ground at Ellimatta Reserve, made possible by a funding boost from the Victorian Government.
Labor Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney joined Anglesea netballers on their home court to officially open the game changing pavilion, backed by a $500,000 investment from the Victorian Government’s Local Sports Infrastructure Fund.
With Super Netball and local winter competition seasons now underway, netball is back bigger and better than ever in regional towns like Anglesea.
The pavilion includes female friendly player change rooms, umpires’ change room, accessible toilet, competition and administration office, an outdoor viewing deck, first aid and trainers’ room, accessible amenities and storage.
The bigger and better pavilion allows the Kangaroos to grow their ranks, host more training and competition and take the local game to a whole new level.
And it’s not just local sport that benefits, with community groups and the nearby schools able to access the facility for local events.
Over the past decade the Victorian Government has invested more than $1.9 billion in community sport and recreation infrastructure across the state.
From lighting upgrades to new sporting pavilions, investments like these provide high-quality and accessible places for Victorians to reap the benefits of sport and active recreation participation.
Ms Tierney acknowledged the Surf Coast Shire Council for its $775,000 contribution, and the Anglesea Football Netball Club for its financial contribution of $25,000.
